Baseline does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The exercises, breathing techniques, and movement sessions offered through the app are for general wellness purposes only and are not a substitute for professional medical guidance.
You should consult your physician or other qualified healthcare provider before beginning any exercise programme, particularly if you have a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, respiratory conditions, joint problems, or any other medical condition that could be affected by physical activity.
Physical activity carries inherent risks, including but not limited to musculoskeletal injury, cardiovascular events, and overexertion. By using Baseline, you acknowledge that you participate in all physical activities entirely at your own risk.
If you experience faintness, dizziness, pain, shortness of breath, or any other concerning symptoms during a session, stop immediately and seek medical attention.
Baseline is not a personal trainer, physiotherapist, or medical professional. The app generates movement sessions algorithmically based on general exercise principles. It cannot assess your individual physical condition, limitations, or readiness for exercise.
Baseline includes breathing techniques that intentionally alter your respiratory pattern. Some modes involve extended breath holds, controlled hyperventilation, and autonomic nervous system activation. These techniques can cause lightheadedness, tingling, visual changes, and in rare cases, loss of consciousness.
Always practise breathing exercises while seated or lying down in a safe environment. Never practise breathing techniques while driving, operating machinery, in or near water, at heights, or in any situation where loss of consciousness could result in injury.
Breathing exercises that involve breath retention or rapid breathing are not recommended if you have a history of:
Cardiovascular disease or abnormal blood pressure · Epilepsy or seizure disorders · Respiratory conditions including asthma or COPD · Stroke or transient ischaemic attacks · Pregnancy · Panic disorder or severe anxiety · Retinal detachment or glaucoma · Recent surgery · Any condition where changes in blood pressure, blood oxygen, or carbon dioxide levels could pose a risk.
If you are taking any medication, particularly for cardiovascular, respiratory, or neurological conditions, consult your doctor before using the breathing features of this app.
Baseline's Override mode is an advanced breathing protocol that involves a sustained cycle of deep breathing followed by an extended breath retention of up to 90 seconds and a recovery hold. This technique produces significant physiological changes including temporary reductions in blood oxygen, shifts in blood pH, and activation of the sympathetic nervous system.
Override is not suitable for everyone. The risks described above are amplified in this mode. Fainting is a known possibility during or immediately after the breath retention phase. This is why the app requires you to acknowledge a safety disclaimer before your first use of Override, and why you should always practise it while lying down in a safe, clear space.
Do not attempt Override in water, while standing, while driving, or in any unsupervised environment where loss of consciousness could lead to injury or drowning.
Baseline is designed for adults. If you are under 18, you should only use this app with the knowledge and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. The breathing exercises, particularly Override mode, are not recommended for children under 16.
Baseline makes no warranties or guarantees regarding health outcomes, physical improvements, or any specific results from using the app. Individual responses to exercise and breathing techniques vary. What works for one person may not be appropriate for another.
The exercise content in this app is authored based on general movement science and clinical breathing research, but it has not been individually prescribed for you. You are responsible for assessing whether any particular exercise or breathing technique is appropriate for your body and your circumstances.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Baseline and its creators shall not be liable for any injuries, health complications, damages, or losses arising from or related to your use of the app, including but not limited to injuries sustained during exercise sessions, adverse reactions to breathing techniques, or any reliance on information provided through the app.
Your use of Baseline constitutes acceptance of these terms and acknowledgement of the risks described in this disclaimer.
We may update this disclaimer from time to time. The current version will always be available at this URL. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
